Courageous Conversations

In the beginning of April, I attended a seminar entitled "Courageous Conversations" for work. Let me tell you, this was so worth the money! Not only can I apply it to work, but my personal life as well. The speaker Margie Warrell was so engaging and inspirational. She gave us all 2 take aways; her book "Find Your Courage! Unleash Your Full Potential & Live the Life You Really Want" and a business card with her 10 Commandments of Courage. I'd like to take this opportunity to share the Commandments with you :)

1. Trust Yourself - No matter what happens, you can handle it. You are capably of more than you think you are.

2. Question Assumptions - The only limits you have are those you place on yourself. Assumptions are the death of possibilities.

3. Do What's Right - Be true to yourself above everything else. Integrity is the only path upon which you will never get lost.

4. Stop Complaining - You can't solve your problems by wining about them. Focus on what you want, not on what you don't.

5. Thing Bigger - Set your sights high and know that if you can dream it, you can do it. All great accomplishments first begin in the imagination.

6. Resist Conformity - Don't surrender to the opinions of others. Express your individuality. Be your own person. Forge your own path.

7. Speak Up - If there's something you really want to say, chances are someone really needs to hear it. Be brave in your conversations.

8. Don't Quit - Success demands perseverance. Setbacks are merely opportunities to show the universe what you're made of. Press on. Keep faith.

9. Say No - Say no to the good to make room for the great. Don't succumb to people-pleasing at the expense of your own sanity and fulfillment.

10. Take Action - Nothing great has ever been achieved without risk. So acknowledge your fear and do it anyway. Fortune favors the bold!

Hope this helps you as much as it did me!! :)

“There’s no secret to balance. You just have to feel the waves”

Balance is apparently something I'm not very good at. You see, I haven't had a boyfriend in eight years and was the "single one" out of all my girlfriends. Now, I have found the love of my life, Eggs, and love spending all my time with him. I try to make time for my girlfriends by having girl nights and keeping in touch with everyone, but I don't think I'm doing enough. Do you guys have any advice for me? I could really use the help!

March = Madness!

Now I'm not a huge college basketball fan. I'll watch and root for two teams throughout the year, University of Maryland (Go Terps) and West Virginia, but you best believe when March rolls around I'm filling out brackets and glued to the tv and espn.com.

This years tournament started today and so far has proven to be very exciting...which is a good thing since I am home sick with a sinus infection. So many upsets and my bracket is hurrrrting! I'm crossing my fingers that my luck and my illness changes soon :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Eggs and I went to the Federal Hill Irish stroll on Saturday with some of my closest friends. Despite the rain, it was a blast! Had a few too many car bombs though...

Hope you all have a wonderful St. Patty's Day! Be sure to drink lots of green beer and eats tons of corn beef and cabbage :)

Addicted

Hello, my name is Lisa and I'm a Twihard. That's right. I'm in my late 20's and I'm obsessed with Twilight. Don't judge! Needless to say, I am beyond giddy for the new Eclipse Trailer.

Looks so good! Although, I'm slightly bummed about their new casting choice for Victoria. When I think of Victoria now, I see Rachelle Lefevre.

What are your thoughts????

Let the Countdown Begin!

There are only 7 days until my favorite holiday, St. Patrick's Day. You know what that means...time to break out the green beer and corn beef and cabbage!!! My mom's side of the family is Irish, so it's always been a day that we go all out for. This includes my grandmother, who has already started her preparations.

Yup, those fantastic finger nails belong to my dear sweet Grandmother. I love her so much. She's the sweetest, kindest, loving, and most generous person I have ever met.

On Sunday, if weather permits, my family and I are all going to watch the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Baltimore. Afterwards, we're going to go to Brewer's Art to enjoy some delicious food and cocktails (Long Island Ice Tea from Grandma :)). It'll be Egg's first St. Patty's Day with us...he's super stoked ;)

This time last year, I had only met and talked to Eggs a few times at social gatherings. On March 13, 2009 I went out with one of my best friends and her boyfriend. We were going out in Fells Point to celebrate a friend's birthday. Eggs was there. We talked a lot that night and he asked me for my phone number. I excitingly gave it to him. The next day, my girlfriends and I went out for a bar crawl in Federal Hill to celebrate St. Patty's Day (day drinking is fun!). Eggs called me at 6 PM to go out. I told him that I wasn't in any condition to hang out/drink more and I was going home. We didn't really talk again after that night for 6 months. I would see him at the gym or at a random party and nervously say hi. In August that all changed, but that's a story for a different post.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if Eggs and I did start dating then. Would things be the same? Would I be as madly in love with him as I am now? But then I just stop questioning it. Things happen for a reason.

The Woman Behind the Name

I was thinking about the name of my blog, Graceful Glove, today. For those of you who do not know me, it's a combination of my two nicknames "Grace" and "Glove". My cousin started calling me "Grace" when we were just kids and it stuck. You see, I'm not the most graceful person. I can run, dance and cheer with the best of 'em (those just came naturally to me), but when it comes to walking...well that is a different story. It's not unheard of for me to trip over nothing, fall up the stairs, or stub my toe on almost any piece of furniture. "Glove" is a play on my last name, Giove. I don't know why the "i" in Giove is so often mistaken for an "l", but it is. I stopped correcting people a while ago :)

Now onto the subject that everyone is talking about, The Oscars. It's no surprise that Cameron Diaz is my pick for best dressed.

I absolutely love her hair, make-up and dress. Plus, look at those arms! Man, she looked fantastic!

When these two came on the stage together to present my jaw dropped! They would make such an adorable couple, don't you think?

My favorite part of the night was when Ben Stiller came out dressed like this.

I was honestly in hysterics. Now I must go put The Hurt Locker in my queue to see what all the fuss is about.
